Guide „Schiffe kieken“
In the footsteps of the seafarers
Across the planks - The dramatic deployments of special ships
Traditional ships, steamers, windjammers, submarines and modern yachts line the quays and jetties and are a spectacular sight as well as popular photo motifs. However, the stories that the contemporary witnesses of seafaring have to offer are fascinating and are revealed during the guided tour “Schiffe kieken”. During their long working lives, the crew of the deep-sea salvage tug “Seefalke” saved the lives of countless sailors. There was bloodshed on board the whaling fleet, to which the “Rau IX” belonged, and the imposing bow of the steam icebreaker “Wal” ensured clear sailing on one of the most important shipping routes.
