Dirk Böttger: „Goethes Faust“
| 19:00 Uhr | 19:00 UhrNachdem Goethe 1786 die zweite Augusthälfte in Karlsbad verbracht hatte, brach er am 03. September von dort zu seiner ersten Italienreise auf. Am 16. Februar 1788 schrieb er aus Rom kurz vor seiner Rückreise an seinen herzoglichen Gönner Karl August von Weimar: „Nun steht mir fast nichts als der Hügel ‚Tasso‘ und der Berg ‚Faustus‘ vor der Nase. Ich werde weder Tag noch Nacht ruhen, bis beide fertig sind.“
Es ist der früheste deutliche Hinweis darauf, wie schwer Goethe die Arbeit an der Faust-Dichtung bemaß. Bis sie fertig war, vergingen Jahrzehnte. Ganze 60 Jahre hat Goethe an der zweiteiligen „Faust“-Dichtung gearbeitet.
Dieser langen Arbeit wird heute der Vortrag anlässlich der 275. Wiederkehr des Geburtstages (28. August 1749) Goethes folgen: von den Quellen bis zur Fertigstellung.
