"Union" - Sailing ship

A sail training ship from Peru

The B.A.P. "Union" is a symbol of Peru's rich maritime tradition and serves as a training platform for future naval leaders. The sail training ship was built entirely in Peru with local materials and embodies the pride of the country. Through educational voyages along the Peruvian coast and abroad, the cadets are trained in discipline, teamwork and leadership skills. The "Union" also acts as an ambassador for Peru by presenting handicrafts and products on board to promote trade relations. With the 2023/2024 circumnavigation, the "Union" has visited 21 foreign ports on five continents and won the Boston Teapot trophy for 124 hours of continuous navigation. The ship's figurehead is inspired by Inca Tupac Yupanqui, a historical leader. The name "Union" recalls the victorious corvette in the Pacific War of 1879 and symbolizes unity and strength.
